Sun Village – the Birth of Xtapa

Sun Village – the Birth of Xtapa

The sun shone brightly on the pretty little village in the Ceyenda Peaks. The mountains rose magnificently around the village, cradling the village gently. The stream flowed high up the banks and a being could see the fish swimming up to spawn. The forest was lush and full of animals and the birds were singing in the trees.
The elves of the Sun Village were out in their bright and fun summer clothes. Gardens needed tending, a new cabin was being built and the hunters were gathering in the center of the village.  The hunters stood under a red canopy discussing where they would hunt on this beautiful day.
Sachem and Star waved at their friends as they walked past the hunters toward the forest edge. Sachem insisted on harvesting some herbs and roots for medicines. The cool dirt on the path felt good on Sachem’s swollen feet. Sachem felt relieved that she would deliver soon. This was the last soul her body would bring into this wondrous world. She was very grateful. Many of her friends had only one maybe two offspring. Sachem was blessed with four cubs, two extremely handsome, healthy males, and soon to be two beautiful, healthy wondrous females.
*Star, we need to go to those trees. That is where I saw the purple flowers. The blue cylids grow next to them. The root from those flowers are very good for the older elves. It helps to stimulate the cerebral. I want to fill this basket with them today so I can dry them. I received a message from the Circle Village. You must go there and sit on the council in my place. They are deciding on some laws there and I trust your judgment and intuition.” Sachem instructed as they approached the flowers Sachem pointed out.
“I would like that very much Mother. I want to take back some of the herbs and medicines I collected for Rain. My pack is going to be very full on my trip home.” Star smiled at her mother. “How long will you be here after the girl cub is born? Have you heard her name?”
“I don’t know how long I will be here. I like it here and it is a nice change from the desert. I know I am needed there especially for Raven’s sake but I feel at peace here for the first time since, well since your father died. It has been very healing for me to be here.” Sachem replied looking around and taking a deep breath, she missed Raven and all his positivity. “I have heard her name, it is Xtapa. She is strong. She is different than you Star which is wonderful and comforting.” Sachem told Star with much warmth in her voice. “I am thinking about helping more of our kind find their Links. Xaxis helps many who come to her. I think I want to go to the tribes. Yarrow is interested in mixing more Dryads with the elves. I think this is a good idea. We have done this in the past with great success. Airel and her sister Jem are elf and dryad. Look how beautiful and gifted Gem is? She has started a school in Fayum on the beach to teach the beings there how to use their gifts.”
Star listened to her mother. Star met Jem several times during visits to Fayum. She liked Jem. Star was concerned for the little one her mother was carrying and Raven her youngest brother. Rain was helping Raven at this time with his adolescence. “What will you do with this cub mother after she is born?”
“I will take her with me until she is old enough to be educated. It will be nice to be out and about with a little one. Perhaps it will make our bond stronger. I am only thinking about what my next step is Star. It has been very nice to just be for a while. When your father died I did not want to stop doing anything. I was worn out. Now I feel refreshed and ready.” Sachem explained to Star.
“What about Cheqtle? He is her father, have you asked him if he wants to help with the raising of Xtapa?” Star asked helping her mother sit down next to cylids.
“He wants her to stay the village until she has three turns. I don’t know if I want to stay here until she is three turns. Right now it seems a long time.” Sachem replied pushing her digging stick into the ground.
Star looked over at her mother; Sachem was good at carrying and birthing her cubs. Sachem was devoted to Star and Rain until their father Raven died. When Sachem delivered Raven, Sachem stayed long enough in the Circle village to wean Raven. She went to visit and learn from the Dryads for several seasons. Star, Rain and Season helped to raise Raven.
Star was sure she did not want to help raise another cub. Star wanted more knowledge of practical healing and application. Staying in the Circle Village to raise her siblings was not part of Star’s plans. Star frowned and turned away from her mother to look at the village. Her friend and mentor Iso lived here, Star came here often to trade and learn from Iso. Star also wanted to back to Fayum. She wanted to join Jem and help with the beach community. Star wanted experiences not parenthood at this time.
“Star, I am going to climb the fruit tree, do you want some fruit?” Sachem asked. Sachem had rose and walked over to the tree. She was looking up at the delicious fruit hanging from the tree limbs.
“I don’t think you should climb the tree in your condition. Let me.” Star said standing up.
“Star, Xtapa is not due for a moon, I can get up there and down myself.” Sachem said lifting her leg to step on the first thick branch of the tree.
Star held her breath as her mother climbed up the tree and sat in on of the joints of the tree. Sachem reached out and grabbed a fruit and ate greedily. “Just what I was craving, yellow fruit!” Sachem threw a couple of the juicy fruits to Star.
Star caught the fruit and felt relief wash over her as she watched her mother eat another fruit. Star sat down and ate her fruit glancing every few moment up at Sachem to make sure her mother did not climb up the tree any further. Star settle down and relaxed for a moment and let the warmth of the sun fill her beingness. She decided a quiet meditation would be nice in this spot. Star quieted her mind and found her place of peace.
Sachem sat in the tree for a while watching the inhabitants of the Sun Village care for their gardens, weave, fish and call back and forth to each other. She liked this village. There was very good synergy here. She liked her small cabin more than her round home in the Circle Village. She knew she would not stay here longer than she needed. She wanted to be out in the world.
Sachem was a Link finder. She could hear the personal tones that the elf or dryad emitted. It was their resonance. She was trained to listen to the tones and match the elf or dryad to their Link. Sachem and Raven were Links. Sachem heard Raven’s tone matching hers before she met him. The turns of the seasons she spent with him were like living in ecstasy every moment. Though she no longer had that feeling she wanted to give this gift to others. Sachem shifted her body and felt an incredible pain course through her abdomen and then she felt the gushing of water.
Star opened her eyes before her mother called to her. She stood up and jogged over to the tree. “Mother you must come down now.”
“I cannot. I cannot move. I am having very intense contractions,” Sachem exclaimed clutching her belly.
“You cannot have the cub in the tree.” Star told her mother, *Cheqtle, it is time. We are just north of you. Sachem is in the tree and cannot get down.*
“Mother, you must try to get out of the tree. I am coming up to help you.” Star started climbing the tree. She was grateful her Mother was not able to climb any higher. Star stood on a branch and was able to grasp her mother shoulders.
*I am in so much pain Star. I cannot move. You must catch her. I am going to push.* Sachem said through tears.
Star started to panic, how could she deliver her sister like this?
*Star, what do you need?* Cheqtle sent from the village.
Star looked up at her mother and sighed. *I need Iso. Tell him my mother is going to deliver in the tree. Tell him to bring what we need. You will need to help him.* Star sent.
Star took a breath and looked around her, her mother was safe and if Star stood right where she was she could catch the cub. Star nodded, to herself and moved her feet to make sure she wouldn’t slip. Then she looked at Sachem, “Alright Mother, I need you to sit up taller. I need to check you.”
Sachem moved into a better sitting position so Star could check to see how much longer until the cub would crown. To her surprise the cub was crowning. “Do not hold your breath. You must breathe and you must push. We do not have much time.” Star instructed calmly.
Cheqtle was now standing at the foot of the tree. *Star, what can I do for you and Sachem?*
*This will not take long. I will need clothes and water to clean the cub. I will hand her to you after I wrap her in a cloth. You will need to wash her. I will help my mother down after the delivery. Please lay a blanket down so Iso will be able to do what is needed. The cub is crowning.* Star sent instructions while allowing Sachem to hold her hands.
The delivery took an hour. Xtapa was handed to her father. Cheqtle gave Xtapa her first bath while she screamed for her mother.
Star helped her mother down out of the tree and went to hold her sister. Star peeped down at Xtapa and smiled at her. Xtapa stopped her wailing and looked at Star. The sisters Linked and Star smiled.  *Welcome to the world little one, may your journey here be full of light!*

Lynx & Nyktos

*Star is with Airel. Her father was found at the bottom of the gorge. They sent his body down the river today. Airel’s wrought with grief, his death was a shock. Lynx and she were very close. She hasn’t been down out of the tree except to see his body off. She won’t see anyone. Star is afraid she is suicidal. I doubt she will leave Airel. I sent to Airel but she won’t answer. I wish I could do something for her. Star wants to take her away until she is mature enough to mate. She was thinking of taking her to the Circle Village, Star thinks a change might bring her out of her depression.*
Lynx felt a sudden shock and immediately looked down and to see his shattered, physical body lying on a rock at the bottom of the gorge. He looked around and saw Airel standing at the top of the gorge looking down at him. He went straight to her, wanting to warn her not to follow him.
He knew now what happened, his physical body was dead and his was now a spirit. He felt a sense of freedom in this idea and also he felt concern for his sensitive daughter. Who would protect her now? Who would explain to her how to be an adult? Then he saw Star walk up behind Airel and take her hand. He felt relieved and moved toward the vortex of light knowing he would see Airel again. He wanted it to be soon.
Lynx walked in the land of spirit for a while, he needed to console himself of what could have been if he had not fallen to his death. He forgave himself of all the circumstances in his lifetime as Lynx and felt a freedom and joy he could not describe.
Soon the Council came to lynx and asked him if he would like to walk on Sirius B again for the last time. He was in agreement. They told him that a panther kitten was about to be born. Synchronicity would connect him again with Airel and he would be able to be with her for a short time.  Lynx immediately agreed, he would do anything to be in the presence of Airel and share a bond with her again.
The Council showed him that in this lifetime as a panther he would learn how to play and protect. He would learn to love unconditionally.
With that Lynx watched and waited for the mother panther to give birth to him. Then he felt the rush of physicality and he was aware that he was being born again as an animal. This was a peculiar feeling. He felt the feeling of joy and tenderness as the Panther mother welcomed him into the world.
In this body lynx felt his spirit expand. He knew he had changed and so his named changed as well, his name now was Nyktos. He was a little black panther wandering about the desert with his mother, playing and pretending to hunt. One day he wandered too far from his mother and another being picked him up. It was a male elf. Nyktos tried to squirm out of the elves arms but he was not strong enough.
The elf took him to a village. Nyktos remembered this village from somewhere in his being. He did not remember any of the elves he was staying with. Then he was traded to a female elf named Xtapa. She was also given a puma kitten. Xtapa put the kittens in a basket and carried them to her home.
Sometime passed and Nyktos and the Puma kitten became playmates. They slept with Xtapa and followed her around the village and played with each other while Xtapa was busy.
One day Xtapa brought a dryad in her home to live with her. Nyktos immediately knew this being from somewhere deep in his own beingness and the dryad filled him with the greatest joy. Her name was Airel. He knew he would remember her soon. Right now in this moment she was asleep and he curled up next to her and slept with her.

A Stormy Night

Excerpt A Soul Group's Journey - Chapter for Blessed Star - 2012
*Well, little chieftess, I am the one who took care of Raven, Xtapa and you when you were all little. I was there for your birth. Did you know that? Your father and I were there. It was some night too. There was a summer storm and we were almost flooded out of the den when you slipped out of your mother. She was so sad to let you go. Your father wanted you to be raised with the tribe so you could grow accustomed to all the noise your mother could not get used too. She wanted to stay but she started to become ill from all the energy it took to block out all the elves thoughts in the tribe. She has gotten better at it but still has a hard time staying for long. When Ezra gave birth to Web, she said she would raise you for your mother. That is how you came to be Ezra’s cub.
The light drizzle of rain washed the new blooming flowers of the forest clean and made the trees shine as Willow and Star walked back to the tree house. There were birds sitting on the tree roots singing their glorious songs as they approached. The birds twittered when they saw the two approaching but did not fly away. Star ducked her head as she lifted the animal skin hanging in the door way. Willow walked into the den first and went to sit on the bed on the far side of the den.
*She is coming Star, she will probably be here tonight.* Yarrow sent rubbing her enormous belly.
*I will start warming water, are you hungry?* Star asked watching Yarrow stroke her belly gently.
*Tea, yes we need to make it warm in here for her. I have sent to Lynx. He will be here soon.* Yarrow stood up and walked over to a shelf and took two buckets from it and headed for her front door. She sat the buckets under two large leafs so rain water would fill them. Then she returned inside. Her contractions were coming every few minutes and it was getting hard for her to walk around. She knew that walking was good for her during this time. She did this for her previous pregnancies and her labor was not as painful as other females of her race.
Star watched Yarrow sit carefully on the bed while she put fire in the little brick stove Lynx had made when they came to live in the tree. Star lit some twigs and blew on them until they were blazing and placed them carefully under the larger pieces of wood in the stove.
It was now raining. Yarrow was closing the wooden shutters and pulling the woven blankets down to cover the windows from the inside. Suddenly Yarrow squatted down on the floor and started taking deep breaths.
*Yarrow, allow me to help you. You must lay down now.* Star helped the dryad to the bed. Star piled some pillows up so Yarrow could rest her back. *I will get everything ready you must stay here and rest. The hardest part is before you and you must be rested. I will get you some tea.*
Star went to the stove and placed the water pot on top. She went to the food shelf and picked out some herbs she knew would help Yarrow with her delivery. Star heard thunder in a distance and looked out the window. Water was pouring off the leaves and making huge puddles everywhere. Star put the herbs in the pot on the stove and walked outside to retrieve the full buckets. She poured the fresh water in barrels near the doorway. She set the buckets next to the barrels. Rain was flying in all directions; she heard thunder again and saw lightening light up the daylight sky.
Yarrow was panting through a contraction as Star brought her the tea. Star sat next to Yarrow on the bed, placed the cup of tea down and placed her hands on Yarrows shoulders.
Star was still learning how to heal by focusing her energy. She could feel her hands heating up and the rush of energy moving out of her hands. Yarrow’s breathing calmed and her body relaxed.
*Thank you Star. I am so grateful you decided to visit me at this time. You are a comfort to me.* Yarrow sent after she sighed and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand.
Lynx, Yarrow’s mate entered the den; Star could hear him taking off his setting his spear against the tree wall and then taking off his shoes. He walked around the bend and into the small den and nodded his head.
*You are ready to deliver soon Yarrow. It is good I decided to come back early from the hunt. How are you feeling? Star is everything ready? I do not know what she will need.* Lynx sent looking between the two females.
Yarrow laughed. Her laughter sounded like birds singing and Lynx relaxed.
*I am warming water. You have made a cradle and Yarrow has put furs in it. I think for right now this all we will need. Why don’t you sit with Yarrow while I make a restorative tea for after the delivery? Everything is up to her and the cub.* Star replied smiling at the first time father.
Lynx walked over to Yarrow and sat next to her. He took her hand gently and kissed it. *I can’t wait to see her.* Lynx told Yarrow gently.
Star peeked out of the narrow window. The rain was coming down in sheets and she heard thunder above the tree and then saw lightening strike outside of the tree making her feel uneasy. Then she turned and saw the couple one struggling to release her cub and the other doing his best to comfort her. What a wondrous moment this was to witness, she thought, as she walked over to the stove. The water was boiling. Star added more wood and then poured the water into a basin. Star took the basin to a niche in the wall near Yarrow.
Yarrow delivered a girl cub named Airel within hours. Star cleaned the cub up and handed the silvery eyed cub to her father. Lynx held his daughter close to him and cried with joy before he presented Airel to Yarrow. Yarrow took Airel in her arms and started to feed her. Yarrow felt the greatest joy holding her third and last girl cub, Airel, born of Dryad and Elf. Not the first cub born of the two tribes and she hoped not the last, she knew this cub would develop the skills to live among many and the gifts to aid her two tribes.

Blessed Beloved Star

Star watched as the planet Sirius B rotated on it axis. A new adventure awaited her on this planet, she thought, how pretty the planet looked from up her vantage point. She could hear the voices of her soul group encouraging her to live a lifetime with them.  Star smiled, she loved her soul group and she could feel her spirit tingle to ecstasy as she started to think about what she wanted during this lifetime.

As she started to decide what she would learn in this lifetime a circle of soul’s she called Elders surrounded her. Star opened herself up to receive their ideas as well.
The Elders showed her different choices of lesson’s to learn and to teach in this lifetime. Star allowed the choices to move through her soul and chose those that resonated with her. The Elder’s resonated their approval and moved away so Star could manifest her life on Sirius B.
Star considered who would be her birth family and what lessons she would learn from them. Star chose the soul Sachem, to be her mother. In this lifetime Sachem would teach Star temperance, understanding and to be unconditional. Star chose the soul Raven to be her Father and Brother; this soul would teach her acceptance. Star continued to choose other souls that called and resonated with her to be her siblings and friends.
When she was through choosing she felt her conception and watched Sachem’s joy when in her pregnancy. Star saw the child Rain; he would be her older brother. Star smiled, she was excited about this lifetime.
Then it seemed in the next moment Star felt pulled into a physical body fighting to get loose of something very tight. She felt the little physical body and understood it was time for her physical incarnation. She felt the forgetfulness overcoming her as she saw the light of the physical world. She knew down deep that she would remember her decisions as she grew and expanded on Sirius B.
Now she was entranced with the physical light and the sound of her mother’s voice.

Quill's Promise

The Quest – Quill & Season

Conversation between Benjan & Quill - Benjan

"What about you, Quill, have you found your other half?" Benjan asked as Quill downed his glass of wine then filled the glass again.

"I don't know if I have one. My birth mother told me not to give up on my quest. So here I am with the best Link finder in this part of our land, searching tirelessly as you will soon be." Quill admitted sounding positive about his own quest.

Conversation between Xtapa & Airel – Rain, Raven & Quill

“Quill is my foster brother. We grew up together. When Raven’s father died Sachem went out to the human tribe that lives in the cliffs. They practice a thing called ‘magic.’ They are part of the Ancient human tribes of this land. She met a woman there and brought her back here to live among us. The woman was named Season. She was an artist. Sachem introduced her to an elf named Remex. Remex fell in love with her and over time they were gifted with Quill. My mother told me Seasons’ grandmother was an elf. That was how they were able to conceive Quill. Season died when Quill and I were adolescents. My mother wasn’t here, of course. So Star helped Quill through the first part of his mourning, his father was no use to Quill, he was also mourning. Sachem came back with a group of elves from the coast. When the group was settled in she asked Quill to come with her. He followed my mother until recently. He came back here after he was in the forest for three years. Now a year later here you are questioning me about him. Why?” Xtapa asked, curiously.

Season sat on top of a boulder in the middle of her garden watching her son Quill and his friend Raven sharpening their spears on her porch. They were flirting and joking with every pretty elf maiden that past the hut. She loved listening to them talk even if she could not hear everything that was said she could feel the love they had for each other. They were better than friends they were brothers.

The sun warmed her aching joints. Season knew she would not be alive in this world much longer. She would have to talk to Quill soon about her death and the traditions of her people. Her beloved Remex, Quill’s father did not like going to the human village where she came from. Quill didn’t mind going there as he had been many times with Season to meet his kin. The sun made her sleepy and the conversation would wait until the coolness of the evening.

Quill helped his mother to the chair by the fireplace. He lit a small fire to keep her feet warm. He looked as he took the seat next to her. She was so frail now. He did not know what to do for her. His father was away in Fayum trading for the tribe.

“Quill, I must talk to you about my death.” Season said glancing at her son.

“Mother, you need not talk like that. You will get better soon. Rain now is looking for teas and poultices to help your joints in his library.” Quill stopped her as he gently stroked her arm.

“Quill I have outlived so many of my relatives that were my age. That is only because I am part elf. I am weary now and my sight grows dimmer by the day. I am tired. I feel it in my being that I will not be a part of this world for long.” Season said. “I want you to burn my body and spread the ashes on the desert. This is the tradition of my tribe. It is the tradition of your tribe as well. I foresee you will live long as you have more elf blood in you than I.”

“Mother I do not want you to leave me so soon. What of my cubs? You will not be able to enjoy them as you wished.” Quill told her, his heart felt heavy in his chest.

“I will see you and your cubs in a different life and I can look forward to that. This is a consolation to me that I know my spirit lives after this human, elf body. Soon you will think about mating Quill. You will begin your quest for a mate. You will leave the Sun Village to look. Do not give up. I feel you will meet her through an adventure that you will take. You must promise me that you will not give up and sit in this village for the rest of your life.” Season told her son.

“I promise I will not give up Mother. I promise to look. Now you are still in this form and I wish to enjoy you until you decide to leave.” Quill told her sincerely putting his hand over his heart and his mother’s heart to let her know he meant his promise.

To the Top of the Tree

Airel, Leaf & Web

Excerpt from A Soul Group’s Journey:

*I was there when you and Web climbed to the top of the old tree to see which one of you was the bravest.*Star paused to allow Airel to remember the event.*Who was the bravest Airel?*

The enormous tree Airel lived in as a child and some of her adulthood, sheltered her whole tribe. The elves lived in dens dug out under the roots and in tree houses among the limbs.

Airel was fostered by an elf named Ezra, who was the mother of Web. Airel and Web were sisters in every way. They played, ate and hunted together. Every day was an adventure when they were cublings in Ceyenda forest.

Web and Airel had a male friend named Leaf. Leaf was a very fun and imaginative cub.

One day the three of them were lying on the grass under the Tribal Tree looking up at the limbs.

*Do you think if we climbed the tree we could touch the clouds?* Airel asked looking up through the limbs trying to see the top of the tree.

*I think we could touch the stars.* Web said picturing herself on top of the tree touching a sparkly star.

*No one is looking, we should start climbing so we can reach the top before the sun sets.* Leaf advised as he sat up and looked around to see if the elders were busy with their tasks.

*I will get some mushrooms and berries, Airel you fill your water skin. Leaf you watch the elders and find a good place for us to start climbing.* Web instructed sitting up. She looked around for her mother, Ezra. Web stood up and walked slowly toward her mother’s den.

Airel and Leaf walked toward the water barrel. Leaf dipped Airel’s water skin into the barrel to fill it while the two of them watched their elders. Airel knew if they made too much of a disturbance they would be called to do some sort of chore that would keep them from their adventure.

Web signaled them from a low branch, Airel and Leaf walked over to her and climbed up. *Let’s go.*

The trio made good time for the first part of their journey up the tree. None of them really knew how tall the tree was as they had never see n the top even while they were laying on forest floor or when they were climbing in other trees. They passed many tree houses and many elves they rarely saw or never saw before. The tree houses were all different. Some were very elaborate and large. These houses took up many limbs and usually had potted gardens on many levels of their houses. Then there were the small houses with porches that looked like they were not lived in much.

When Airel saw that the branches were starting to get thinner she looked up and she saw the sky. She thought how pretty the sky is from the branches of the tree. The birds flying and insects flying about and small animals scurrying on the branches with them, Airel started to appreciate her journey in this moment. She took a deep breath and sat down on a limb. Just to look around and see this part of the tree she had never seen before. She wondered how many elves had seen this part of the tree.

The leaves on the great tree up here were green instead of the purple color they were closer to the ground. The insects flew, crawled and hopped around. Their colors were vibrant. Airel know a vibrant colored insect should not be eaten. She let them walk all over her though appreciating each one. The bark on the top of the tree was thinner too. She could peel it here. The bark smelled good. She took the piece she peeled and put it in her pouch so she could smell it later.

Web sat next to her looking up, *We are nearly there, it looks as though the sun is going down. We should hurry so we can touch the stars.*

Leaf stood up and looked around. He pointed to a branch that went upward. *That branch looks safer than any of the others. We need to start being careful, unless we can float. Some of these branches are very brittle.* Leaf told them pointing to some thinner branches.

*I can float a little.* Airel said climbing onto a branch and then dropping off of it. Airel focused very hard and drew in energy from all around her. To Leaf and Web’s surprise she did float even after she opened her eyes.

*Who taught you that?* Web asked watching Airel settle daintily on a branch.
*Lynx said my mother knew how to float. He didn’t tell me how though so I have been figuring it out.” Airel said smiling. *It has taken me a while to do just that little bit of floating.*

*That floating can come in handy; you should practice all the time Airel. You never know when you might have to float.” Leaf observed. Then his face changed as Web and Airel’s face. Their parents were calling telepathically to them. Now was the time to make the decision of ignoring them and going to the top or going back down and not being able to touch the stars.

* I want to touch the stars,* Airel stated and went over to the branch and started walking toward the top of the tree.

*If we get up there and it is dark we will have to wait until the morning to go back down.* Leaf said looking at Web and Airel.

*That is alright with me.* Airel said.

Web nodded her head. *Let’s move, tomorrow we will be in so much trouble. I hope we can reach the stars.*

On they went and right when the sun hit the horizon they reached the top of the old tree and looked out. There they saw how immense their home was and the other trees like their home. They saw how interwoven the forest was from their vantage point and it took their breath away. It was another world on top of their own with different animals, and insects. As the sun set the stars came out. Web and Airel could not touch the stars; they were astounded by the beauty of the night sky. The three moons were up high one was full and the two smaller moons were at a quarter full. The sky was velvety blue and the stars sparkled so much they did not need light to see each other.
